Critical child safety

Why a car seat must be replaced after any accident

A car seat that has absorbed impact forces during a road accident may have invisible structural damage — hairline cracks in the polycarbonate shell, compromised harness anchor points, or deformed energy-absorbing foam — that cannot be detected by visual inspection alone. A seat that looks perfectly fine may no longer protect your child in a second impact.

This is why safety authorities worldwide — and Quinton Baby — recommend replacing any car seat involved in a moderate to severe accident. The Safe Car Seat Programme removes the financial barrier, ensuring no Malaysian family is forced to reuse a potentially compromised seat.

Do not reuse a car seat after any accident. Return it to Quinton Baby through this programme and receive a free replacement. Your child's safety cannot be compromised by cost.

Invisible structural damage
The polycarbonate shell and energy-absorbing foam may be permanently deformed without any visible cracks. This reduces the seat's ability to manage crash energy in a second impact.
Compromised harness anchor points
The harness mounting points within the seat's frame may be weakened by impact forces, even if the harness webbing appears undamaged and the buckle still clicks.
Certification no longer valid
A car seat is tested and certified by KBA Germany as a new, uncompromised unit. Once involved in an accident, the seat can no longer be considered to meet the tested standard it carries.
